The intent of the latest Preschool Development Grant Birth-5 program (PDG B-5) is certainly admirable and important. Now, the challenge is to make the best possible use of this funding to make a sustainable and lasting impact in your community, state, and nationwide.
Learn with this 30-minute webinar some of the inspiring ways that state and local early childhood coalitions are using powerful techniques and tools for community strategy engagement to break down silos, enhance alignment, and streamline communication of local and statewide efforts to achieve PDG goals.
The webinar will share how early childhood coalitions across New Hampshire (and a statewide alliance) are leveraging powerful strategic practices and tools such as strategy mapping, an online strategy engagement platform, and enhanced community teamwork to achieve greater collective impact and system change.
The webinar is short and fast-paced, but participants will also get to access a variety of additional resources such as the ACEs & Resilience Resource Commons for Communities (ARRCC) and additional training on strategy mapping and community engagement.
The Community Strategy Engagement Accelerator (CSEA)
The webinar will also introduce a 12-month program that combines eLearning, group coaching, consulting, professional support, and peer-to-peer sharing to greatly enhance your region or state’s impact with the PDG dollars and other resources available to help improve the well-being of children and families. This program also helps you take advantage of work done by other PDG grant recipients to refine and implement promising practices, including those shared by the National Technical Assistance Center for the PDG B-5.

Presenters
Bill Barberg, a co-founder of the Population Health Learning Collaborative, is the President and Founder of InsightFormation, Inc., a Minnesota-based consulting and technology company that helps communities, regions, and states address complex social and health issues that require multi-stakeholder collaboration. His deep background in strategy implementation has been featured in dozens of conference presentations, papers, and webinars.
Bill was selected to write the chapter on “Implementing Population Health Strategies” for the book, “Solving Population Health Problems through Collaboration” (Routledge, 2017). His recommendations for using strategy maps is featured as a core recommendation in the new report by the National Academy of Public Administration. Bill recently co-authored a paper for the Journal of Change Management on “Leading Social Transformations to Create Public Value and Advance the Common Good”.
Liz Fitzgerald is a Director of Community Impact at United Way of Greater Nashua based in Nashua, New Hampshire. Liz has focused her career on strengthening communities with a variety of health and human service nonprofits, including three tours of duty with United Way. Over the last 3 decades Liz has successfully mobilized more than 300,000 volunteers and personally helped to secure upwards of 30 million dollars to address basic needs in Health, Education, Economic Mobility and Protecting the Environment. Currently, Liz current works with United Way of Greater Nashua as the Director of Community Impact managing the community needs assessment and investment processes and playing a leadership role in UWGN’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion goals, the Smart Start Early Childhood Coalition and FEMA and Homeland Security’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP).
Mary Doherty, Strategy Map Coordinator, Greater Nashua Smart Start. Mary recently retired from an acquisition leadership position at the US Department of Transportation and currently works part-time for the United Way’s Smart Start Program as the Strategy Map Coordinator responsible for working with each coalition partner in completing their Strategic Partner Template for the Smart Start Coalition Strategy Map. She is active in her community and a supporter of many charities. She founded the Teachers and Paws Project (TAPP) in 2019 to spread “pawsitivity” and compassion through humane education and resourcing teachers. TAPP provides free school supplies to educators to support the needs of their classrooms, and to create a better world for people, animals, and the environment through humane education kits and resources. Mary serves as the President of TAPP’s Board of Directors and also serves as the Vice President of The MRP Project providing hope through social support to adults facing hardships and a mentoring program for middle school students in the Greater Hopkinton, MA area.
